Who We Are

We are one community of the Poor Servants of the Mother of God (SMG), an international congregation of Catholic Sisters who share our faith by serving the poor and vulnerable, and by playing our part in the development of social justice in many ways around the world.

The deeply religious desire of the Sisters to serve the aging and sick has been handed down from generation to generation and is still very much apparent at Maryfield USA. Today Sr. Lucy's (Mission Leader) and the other Sisters' deep faith, astute leadership, and sensitivity towards the needs of others is felt by everyone whose lives they touch.

One significant way was to establish Pennybyrn at Maryfield USA, a gracious continuing care retirement community nestled in 71 naturally landscaped acres in High Point, North Carolina. Through 60 years of loving care, the delivery of excellent service, and the grace of God, our community continues to grow and is now one of the most impressive facilities in the area. With the addition of 20 cottages that feature different architecture and attractions such as screened porches and 131 waterfront apartments, Pennybyrn is an architectural feat that many strive to imitate. Services for active retirees, assisted living, and continuing care are all provided here.

The spirit of our caring heritage permeates our community. Mass is celebrated seven days a week and on Wednesday evening we have Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in our main chapel. Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration continues 24 hours a day in our special Perpetual Adoration Chapel. For those who desire to be completely alone in prayer, a Meditation Chapel is also available. All of these sacred places afford the opportunity for personal reflection no matter what your denomination is.

The spirit of our Catholic heritage of caring and devotion to God can be felt in everything we do. An SMG community may be the place for you, too. Contact us to learn more about how we serve God through work in our community.
